Preferred Locations for your Simple Panel
Table of Contents
Your panel is the heart of your security system—it keeps everything connected and running smoothly. To get the best performance, proper placement and power setup are key. Here’s how to do it right.
Where to Place Your Panel
Choose a central, open location in your home where the panel is easy to access and hear. Here are some ideal spots:
- Counter-top
- Table-top
- Bookshelf
- Desk
- Wall (Professional installation recommended)
Powering Your Panel
Your panel must stay plugged in at all times. To avoid issues:
- Use a standard outlet that is NOT a GFCI (these have reset/test buttons and are usually in kitchens or bathrooms).
- Make sure the outlet is not controlled by a light switch.
- If you have kids or are concerned about someone unplugging it, secure the power plug with the provided screw.
After plugging in, you may see a red “X” over the signal bars—this is normal! The panel may take a few moments to connect to the cellular network.
What to Avoid
Avoid placing your panel in locations that may reduce its effectiveness, such as:
- Areas where the siren can't be heard clearly
- Near windows where it could be seen by potential intruders
- Within 4 feet of large metal appliances (like fridges, TVs, or washers)
- Enclosed spaces like:
- Closets
- Garages
- Bathrooms
- Closed laundry rooms
- Stairwells
