The Cove Connect App allows you to customize and control your camera’s settings directly from your mobile device. This article walks you through how to access camera settings and explains each option available so you can optimize your camera for your home.
Accessing Camera Settings
- Open the Cove Connect App on your mobile device.
- Go to the Cameras Menu.
- Select the Settings icon in the upper-right corner of the live view.
Note for Android users: You will need to load the live feed before the settings button becomes available.

Camera Settings Guide
Below are the settings available for cameras in the Cove Connect App.
Please note that some options—such as lighting—are only visible for camera models that support those specific features.
If your camera doesn’t support a feature, that setting will not appear in the app.

Tips for Best Results
- The camera’s default settings work well for most users, but you can make adjustments to fit your needs.
- Change only one setting at a time until you achieve your desired results.
- Adjust motion sensitivity if you’re receiving too many or too few alerts.
- Place the camera in an area with stable Wi-Fi for the best performance.
Camera Name
You can name or rename your camera from this section.
Privacy Mode
Enables “sleep” mode, temporarily disabling live view and recordings.
Audio Settings
Use this section to:
- Toggle the microphone and speaker on or off.
- Adjust the speaker volume to make your voice sound louder or softer when speaking through the camera.
Motion Detection Settings
This section includes several features that control how your camera detects and reports motion.
Event Reporting and Cloud Storage
- Toggles whether the camera sends event recordings to the cloud.
- Even if disabled, you’ll still receive motion detection notifications on your phone.
Person Detection
- Enables the camera to identify and notify you when a person is detected.
- Available only on the Premium Service Plan. If this setting doesn’t save, you may need to upgrade your plan.
Motion Detection Cooldown Period
- Sets the delay between motion-triggered recordings.
- A higher cooldown means fewer recordings and notifications.
Notify on Motion Detect
- Toggles push notifications when motion is detected.
- If this is turned off but Contextual AI Notifications are enabled, you’ll still receive those alerts.
Motion Detection Sensitivity
- Controls how much movement triggers recording.
- Low Sensitivity = more frequent recordings.
Motion Detection Area
- Choose specific areas of the frame to monitor for motion.
- You can select or deselect regions using the detection boxes (see image in the app).
Motion Detection Schedule
- Define specific times when motion detection should be active.
- If no schedule is set, the camera records motion events 24/7.
Motion Tracking
- For pan-and-tilt cameras, this feature automatically follows moving objects to keep them centered in the frame.
Light Settings
Camera Status Light
- Toggles the small LED indicator that shows the camera’s status.
Light Switch
- Manually turns the spotlight (or floodlight, if available) on or off.
Spotlight Mode
- Defines how the camera handles lighting in low-light conditions:
Mode |
Description |
|---|---|
Intel |
Turns on the light only when motion is detected in low lighting. |
IR |
Keeps the light off and uses black-and-white night vision in low light. |
CLR |
Keeps the light on in low-light conditions. (Battery cameras may drain faster in this mode.) |
Off |
Disables both lighting and night vision—recommended only for well-lit areas. |
Time Zone
Adjust the time zone displayed on the live feed.
The camera defaults to the network’s regional time zone but can be changed manually if needed.
Network Connection
Update or change the Wi-Fi network your camera is connected to.
(For example, if you’ve installed a new router, you can reconnect the camera here.)
Storage Settings
- View the status of any inserted MicroSD card.
- If a card is inserted, you can format it when necessary.
Formatting erases all existing data. Copy important files before proceeding.
- Enable Continuous Recording to record nonstop until the storage is full.
- When full, the camera automatically overwrites the oldest footage.
- This feature is only available when a MicroSD card is inserte
Modifying Favorites
- Tap the three white lines and pencil icon (iOS) or use the Dashboard menu (Android) to customize your home screen.
- Choose which devices, sensors, cameras, or scenes appear for quick access.
