Installing Your Smoke Detector
Step-by-Step Guide If you are adding new equipment to your alarm system, make sure you have already added the Smoke Detector to your alarm system before you install the piece of equipment. Please follow the instructions in this article if you haven’t done this already. Common Installation Locations Here are some recommended places to install a smoke detector, located below the list are some images to help you decide where to install your new sensor. Bedrooms Hallways Living Rooms Finished Basements Locations to Avoid Do not install Smoke Detectors in the following areas: Directly above a sink, cooker, stove, or oven Do not locate a Detector within 10 feet (3m) of any cooking appliance. However, to reduce the likelihood of incidental False Alarms due to cooking, the distance can be increased to a minimum of 20 feet (6m) where possible. Next to a door or window that would be affected by drafts, like an extractor fan or air vent Do not install the Smoke Detector in a non-climate-controlled environment i.e. locations where the normal ambient temperature is below 40°F (4.4°C) or above 100°F (37.8°C) In or below a cupboard Where airflow would be obstructed by curtains or furniture Where dirt or dust could collect and block the sensor Where it could be knocked, damaged, or inadvertently removed Near a bathroom, sauna, or other location where steam can cause false alarms Best Installation Practices These Smoke Detectors should only be mounted in climate-controlled areas. Ceiling Mount - place the detector no closer than 4 inches from any wall (measured from the closest outside edge of the detector). The green areas in the images below indicate the proper placement. Wall Mount - place the detector no more than 12 inches from the ceiling but no closer than 4 inches (measured from the closest outside edge of the detector). The Alarm Panel is not Connected to Wi-Fi during Installation Wizard
During the setup Wizard if your Alarm Panel is failing to connect and you see the following screens, Please check the following: Bring your Alarm Panel into the Same Room as your Hub and Router Make sure you have selected the correct Wi-Fi network On this screen, you can tap on the white box in the top right-hand corner of your Alarm Panel screen and it will pull up a list of available Wi-Fi networks, select your network and tap on “Continue.” Make sure your Wi-Fi password has at least 8 characters Your Wi-Fi Password must have at least 8 characters for your Alarm Panel to connect, if it doesn’t please contact your Internet Service Provider and update your Wi-Fi password. If you would like you can skip this step and finish the rest of the Setup Wizard. Once you have updated your Wi-Fi password you can follow the steps in this article to connect it to your Wi-Fi Make sure you have the correct Wi-Fi password On this screen, you can tap on the white box in the center-left of your Alarm Panel Screen and it will pull up a keyboard for you to enter your Wi-Fi password (including any special characters and case sensitivity) then tap on the green checkmark on the right-hand side of the keyboard and then tap on “Continue.” If your panel is still failing to connect please tap on “Skip for Now” and complete the rest of the Setup Wizard. After completing the Setup Wizard you can follow the steps in the Support Article to connect your Alarm Panel to WiFi. The Alarm Panel is not Connected to the Hub

The Alarm Panel Exited the Installation Wizard
Your Cove Connect System is designed to just have one of your Alarm Panels complete the Setup Wizard. Do not be alarmed if you have already completed the setup wizard and your second Alarm Panel exits after it prompts you to connect to Wi-Fi. If for whatever reason your panel has exited the Setup Wizard and you would like to restart it please follow these steps: Click on the “More” icon at the bottom navigation bar. The Monitoring didn't Call from the Installation Wizard
After you have completed the installation wizard you will see the following on your Alarm Panel Screen: Our monitoring station will call the phone number you listed when you ordered your Cove Connect System. Sensors will not properly trigger on Installation Wizard
After you have created your master passcode your Alarm Panel will now prompt you to trigger and install each of your sensors. Follow the instructions on the Alarm Panel screen to trigger your sensor. Check the Sensor for any battery pull tabs and remove them Bring the Sensor next to the Hub Trigger the Sensor Again If the Sensor still doesn’t trigger Please call our technical support number at 855-268-3669 If you are unable to call, you can skip that Sensor Category and proceed with triggering and installing your other sensors and then call us at your earliest convenience to resolve any issues.…Read More -
Navigating the Installation Wizard for the Connect System
Congratulations on the purchase of your New system! The Alarm panel comes with a built-in Installation wizard to aid you in the installation of the Security components of your system. (Sensors, Alarm Panel, and Hub). This article will break down the setup into a few respective categories namely: UI navigation Questions Menu Setup Hub and Sync with Hub Connect to Wifi Creating Master Code Triggering and Installing Sensors Verifying the Sensor Signals Arming and Disarming Instructions Monitoring/Welcome Call Navigating the User Interface Below is one of the pages you may see on your Installation Process. Here are some of the common buttons you may see on each of the pages. Question Mark Icon (?) - This will bring up the questions menu (covered in the next section). Directions and installation instructions - This will be on the center of your page to walk you through how to trigger sensors followed generally by an image to instruct you how to operate or install the sensor. Continue - This allows you to proceed to the next part of the setup or installation. Back - Allows you to navigate back a page in case something isn’t properly completed. Skip - This allows you to skip the current step. (We recommend only using this if your sensor is not operating properly, but will still allow you to complete the rest of the setup. If you do end up using the skip button due to a sensor not working properly, please reach out to our support team for further assistance. There are a few other page-specific buttons and options available so please refer to those sections for any additional questions you may have.
