How to enable Critical Alert Notifications on the Cove Connect App
What are Critical Alert Notifications? Critical Alerts are special notifications that bypass your iOS device's mute switch, focus, and do not disturb settings to generate an audible notification in emergencies. Critical Alerts are only available to applications that have applied and been approved by Apple. How does this benefit you? Flexibility Now, you can be alerted by the Cove Connect System during important Security events even if you have muted or put your phone in Do not disturb for other reasons. Additional Setting Adjustments Through the Cove Connect App
Rebooting your Hub from the App (Android) Your Hub is the brain of your system. It is the device that receives and delivers equipment signals to the rest of the house. As with most technology, it is recommended to perform a soft reset at least once a month or as the needs arise. This will help maintain the longevity of your equipment while minimizing any potential troubled conditions. You can perform a soft reset or reboot to your system. To perform this soft reset: Log into the app Click on the 3 bars at the top left to access the side menu Select “Settings” Scroll down to “Reset Panel” Once selected, you may be required to enter a username or password or use biometric authentication. Click “Soft Reset” on the confirmation page to initiate the soft reset. Once completed your Hub will turn off and then back on momentarily afterwards. Adding a Sensor or Siren through the Cove Connect App
Please note: This article provides instructions for adding equipment to our generation 2 (Cove Connect) system. Instructions for adding equipment to a generation 1 (Cove Simple) system can be found here. Adding Sensor (Android) If you have purchased an additional sensor and would like to program it into the rest of your system, you can do that through the app. To add a new sensor: Log into your app, click on the 3 bars at the top left, and click on “Settings.” Scroll down to “Add a Zone.” On the “Sensor Serial Format” select the second option (0123456). Click “Next Step.” If you are adding a siren, select the first option (01AB23CD). Scan the QR code using the “Scan Barcode” screen, or type in the 7-digit TXID located on the back of the sensor. If you are adding a siren, type in the 8-digit Serial Number, then tap “Enroll Now,” and skip ahead to step 7. Select the sensor you are trying to add from the list of sensor types. Under the “Zone Name,” choose a name for the sensor, and then click “Enroll Now.” After you have selected “Enroll Now,” the app will display a bar at the bottom that will display that the sensor is “Enrolling”. Once it’s enrolled, the “Enrolling” bar will disappear and you can view the sensor in the list of sensors on the “Security” page. Creating Users You can also create an app user through “Manage Access” Select your security system Tap on the (+) icon at the top right of the app Fill out the fields This will create an app user account with a username, password, and pin so the user can use the application to control the system. Local Users If your primary app user wanted to create a temporary PIN for a house or babysitter but not grant them app access, (otherwise known as a local user), this can also be done. To create a local user: Go to the “manage access” and make sure you are in the “By System” section. Select the system in question (There should only be one system visible). From there you will see the users with access already and a (+) icon. This will be where they create the local user. After selecting the (+), They would fill out the first and last name and a PIN code and select “Local Access”. If they wanted to give them app access, they can but the majority of users would go with the other method listed above to create an app user, nevertheless, the option is still there. Modifying and Editing an Existing User If you wish to make adjustments to your app user or another member's app functions, you can if you have “Master User Access” (This should be enabled by default for the Primary user). There are a few settings you can be able to adjust for each sensor including renaming the sensor, configuring app notifications, toggling on/off chime, and bypassing a sensor. To access the sensor's settings: Adjust Sensor Settings on the Cove Connect App (Android) Log into the app After you have logged in, tap on the menu bar on the top left Tap on “Security”, this Screen will display all of your Equipment. You can also sort them by Category. For Android, Find the sensor you want to adjust and do the following: For Android click on the 3 dots to the right of the sensor you wish to adjust. This will bring up a menu that will allow you to adjust your sensor settings. You can rename your sensor Click on the “Rename” option in the pop-up menu. Type in the new name of the sensor in the Text field. Click “OK” to save your changes. Adjust App Notifications Add a checkmark in the box if you would like to receive App Notifications when the sensor is triggered. For doors and windows, you get the option for when the door is opened and when the door is closed. Adjust Chime (For Doors and Windows) Add a checkmark in the box if you would like to hear a chime when the sensor is triggered. For doors and windows, you get the option for when the door is opened and when the door is closed. Bypass Sensor Add a checkmark in the box if you would like to bypass a sensor. This bypass is ONLY for one arming cycle. After the system is disarmed the bypass is removed. Alarm Verification Through the Cove Connect App
When an alarm is triggered, Cove will automatically send you a text message that you can respond to in order to confirm or cancel the alarm. Additionally, you will be able to verify your alarm through the Cove Connect app with a function called “Alarm Verification.” When your system is in alarm mode, 2 buttons will appear on your screen: Clicking “Confirm Alarm” will initiate a pop-up for you to verify that the proper authorities need to be dispatched. Clicking “Confirm” on that pop-up will notify our monitoring team to dispatch without the need for a call. Clicking the “False Alarm, Disarm” option will notify our monitoring team that no action is needed and your System will Disarm. The monitoring team will then disregard the alarm event. Please note: This alarm verification process is only available for a limited time after an alarm is initially triggered. If the Alarm is not Disarmed or Confirmed, the monitoring team will call your contact list and notify the proper authorities. Arming and Disarming Through the Cove Connect App
The Arming and disarming functionality is visible across all pages for easy access while navigating the application. Arming “Stay” Select this mode when people will be staying inside. This will arm all sensors except motion sensors. How To Arm “Stay” - Select the option of “Stay” or the Icon of the person inside the house. Arming Stay normally has an entry and exit Delay unless the user has selected the option of instant arming. Arming “Away” Select this mode when the house will be unoccupied. This will arm all sensors including motion sensors. How to Arm “Away” - Select the “Away” option in the app or the icon of the person in the foreground with the house behind. This also has an entry and exit delay unless instant arming is enabled. Arming “Night” Select this mode when people will be staying inside and sleeping. This will arm all sensors including Motion Sensors configured for Night Mode. How to Arm in “Night” mode - Select the “Night” option on the app or the icon with the moon and stars. In night mode - there is no exit delay but there is an entry delay by default. (In case someone accidentally opens the door to let a pet outside before disarming the system.) Instant Arming Instant arming will allow you to remove entry delay from your Door Sensors when you Arm your System in Stay, Away, or Night Mode. Removing Entry delay means that if your system is armed and a door with a sensor is opened, the alarm will go off immediately. The icon for this option looks like a clock and is above the option for “Night” If the Color is “Greyed Out” this means you have removed Entry Delay from your sensors when you arm your system. If the icon is “Colored In” this means your sensors will have an Entry Delay when arming your system. Silent arming Silent Arming allows you to arm your system without the beeping tones occurring while the system is arming and counting down. Android and iOS devices have slightly different app interfaces within the Cove Connect app. Scroll to your device and type below App Navigation With iOS Home Screen/Dashboard When you first log into the app, the screen will be mostly blank. You will be able to customize your home screen later. Accessing Settings Tap on the gear icon in the top left corner of your screen. On this menu, you’ll see this list: “Manage Access” - View and modify what access you would like to give users on your system. To edit and create new users, please refer to this article. “Manage System” - Rename and add new sensors to your system. Please see these articles for more information. “Manage Cameras” - Access your cameras’ settings. Dealer Info: View the Dealer information (this may be removed in our build) My Info: View and modify the user info on the account “Notifications” - Modify which notifications you receive. To adjust your notification preferences, please refer to this article. “Preferences” - Turn on Face ID login “Theme” - Customize your app theme color “About” - Includes information about the app “License Agreement” “Privacy and Terms” “Logout” - Logs you out of the app. Modify Favorites In the top right-hand corner of the screen, you will see three white lines and a pencil. If you tap this button, it will bring up a screen that lets you customize what you see on your home screen. Getting Started with the Cove Connect App
How to Download the Cove Connect App Pull up your App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) Search for “Cove Connect.” Locate the Cove Connect App. Install/Download the app to the device Pull up the Cove Connect app when the download is complete. When the app is first downloaded, you may be prompted with certain access permissions (location, contact, phone), click allow permissions to get the best experience when using the app. How to Log Into the App Once the App has finished downloading, use your Cove Connect Login Information to access your system. Your Username and Password will be emailed to you shortly after purchase, and texted to you after you have completed your System Installation. If you did not receive this text, please reach out to our support team for further assistance. When you log in for the first time, the app will prompt you to review some terms and conditions. Please review them and click, “Accept.” Depending on the type of phone you have, your phone may then ask if you would like to set up touch or facial recognition. Note: The app supports Face/Fingerprint Authentication for some phone models. You can also enable these settings later through your phone and app settings. If you are having trouble logging in, tap “Forgot Password” on the login screen. Once you have set your password, we recommend changing the password through the “My Info” section of your app. Forgotten Password If you have forgotten your password, tap on “Forgot Password” on the app login screen and follow the directions by providing your email. This will send a password reset link to your email address. Open this email and click on the link. This will redirect you to a page to reset the password.
