Table of Contents
Moving can be stressful. Transferring your security system to a new location shouldn't make it worse. That's why we've made our moving process as quick and painless as possible, but first, let's review your options.
Option 1: Take Your Cove System With You
Yes, you can take your entire security system to your new home! Cove is designed to move with you and we made it easy for you.
What to Do:
-
Set your account on test mode
- Call Cove support to put your system on Test Mode to prevent false alarms.
-
Disarm and Unplug Everything
- Disarm your system and unplug the Hub. Then, wait 24 hours for the battery to fully drain.
- Remove all sensors, the Touchscreen Panel, and cameras.
-
Label Your Equipment (Optional)
- Labeling where sensors were placed can help during reinstallation.
-
Take It With You
- Pack everything safely. Don’t forget power cords and mounting hardware.
At Your New Place:
-
Set It Up Again
- Once you’re in your new home, follow the original setup guide or contact customer support if you need help reactivating your system.
- Update your address in the Customer Portal.
Option 2: Take Just Your Cameras and Panel
If you’re only moving part of your system — like your panel and cameras — no problem!
What to Do:
-
Set your account on test mode
- Call Cove support to put your system on Test Mode to prevent false alarms.
- Remove your sensors from the system.
- Follow the same steps as Option 1 to power down your Hub and Touchscreen Panel.
- Carefully uninstall and pack up your cameras.
At Your New Place:
- Plug in your hub and touchpad and wait for a connection.
- Reinstall and test your cameras.
- Need help? Find your camera here for setup guides.
- Update your address in the Customer Portal.
- If you'd like to get new sensors, you can purchase them through your Customer Portal or by contacting our support team.
Option 3: Leave the System Behind, Start Fresh at Your New Place
If the new homeowner wants to keep your current system — or you just want to start over — we’ll help you make a smooth handoff.
What to Do:
-
Save any important video footage:
- Open your camera’s app (Cove, Eufy, Kami, Skybell, etc.)
- Download clips to your phone before they expire (cloud clips are typically saved for 7 days).
- If your camera has an SD card, remove and save its contents using a computer.
Save the footage before inserting the SD card into a new camera — it could be reformatted and erased.
-
Reset the Cameras for the new owner:
- Kami Cameras: Hold the reset button for 5 seconds.
- Kami Doorbell: Remove front cover, press and hold top button until LED turns white.
- Skybell: Hold button for 60 seconds until LED flashes yellow.
- Eufy: Remove the camera from your app — this triggers a reset.
- Go to portal.covesmart.com, update your address under "My Account", and call us so we can help transfer the service to the new homeowner.
