Carbon Monoxide Detector Not Properly Triggering
Troubleshooting Steps If you feel your CO Detector is not triggering properly, we recommend testing the sensor. Your CO Detector will trigger in the event of Critical Carbon Monoxide Levels or you can test it by tampering with the CO Detector. To do this please twist the CO Detector counter-clockwise until it detaches from its mounting plate. Perform a Sensor Test If the CO Detector is still not responding through testing, please check the following: Verify that the batteries in the sensor are new, and make sure they are properly attached to the sensor. Move the CO Detector closer to the Hub. If the sensor still won’t trigger after performing the above troubleshooting steps, please reach out to our support team for further assistance.…Read More -
Carbon Monoxide Detector False Alarms
It is important to IMMEDIATELY address any sensor trouble conditions when they occur. A low battery, loss of supervision, or abnormal sensor behavior can cause false alarms. Troubleshooting False Alarms Make sure the Carbon Monoxide Detector was purchased through Cove and is not a pre-existing Carbon Monoxide Detector. Make sure the CO Detector was not installed in any of the following places: Directly above a sink Directly above a stove or within 5 feet of any cooking appliance Next to a door or window that would be affected by drafts, like an extractor fan or air vent Where airflow would be obstructed by curtains or furniture Where dirt or dust could collect and block the sensor Where the sensor could be knocked, damaged, or accidentally removed Replace the batteries (2 Alkaline AAA). If you continue to experience false alarms, please reach out to our support team.…Read More -
Carbon Monoxide Detector Tampering
Troubleshooting Carbon Monoxide Detector Tampering The Carbon Monoxide Detector has a built-in tamper switch to deter unauthorized interference. When the Alarm Panel reports a tamper trouble condition, it usually means the mounting plate and the sensor are loose or not properly seated. This occurs most frequently after changing sensor batteries. Troubleshooting Sensor Tampering Make sure the sensor is securely connected to the mounting plate. (It is recommended to remove and re-attach the sensor to the plate to ensure proper connection as displayed in the image below). Make sure the alignment markers on the Mounting Base and the Detector are perfectly aligned If your sensor continues to report tampering and you have ensured proper sensor alignment, please reach out to our support for further assistance.…Read More -
Changing your CO Detector's Batteries
When Carbon Monoxide Detector batteries are low, the sensor will chirp approximately every 48 seconds. If you have received a Carbon Monoxide Detector Low Battery message on your panel, you will need to replace the battery promptly to ensure the device continues to function properly. Information to order replacements can be found in our article, How to Order Replacement Batteries. Battery Type Two (2) Alkaline AAA Batteries Changing Instructions Open the Carbon Monoxide Detector by turning the detector counterclockwise until the back cover releases. Pay close attention to the orientation of the (+) and (-) sides of the battery in the button. Remove the battery and wait 20 seconds while the Carbon Monoxide Detector resets. Place the new Alkaline AAA batteries in the detector. Twist the Carbon Monoxide Detector clockwise back into place on the mounting plate.…Read More -
