Cove Security App Download (Android)
With a recent update, the Cove Security app is temporarily unavailable for Android users in the Google Play Store. During this period, you can still download the app directly by following the steps below.
Please keep in mind that to download the app from this location, you will need to enable installation from 3rd party apps on your device. The exact steps may vary by Android model, but all follow the same general process of entering your devices settings.
Step 1: Allow Installation from Unknown Sources
By defult Android devices do not allow installations from outside the Play Store. In order to enable this setting follow the steps below:
- Open Settings on your device.
- Go to Security or Privacy, depending on your device.
- Look for Install Unknown Apps or Install from Unknown Sources.
- Select the app you will use to download/open the APK file (browser, email, file manager).
- Enable Allow from this source.
Note: On Android 8.0 and above, permissions may need to be granted per app rather than globally.
Step 3: Locate the File
Once the APK file is downloaded, you will need to locate it:
- Open your device’s File Manager.
- Go to the Downloads folder (or the folder where your browser saves files).
Step 4: Install the App
To install the APK:
- Tap the APK file.
- A prompt will appear asking if you want to install the app. Select Install.
- Once complete, tap Open or Done.
Step 5: Open the App
You can launch the app from the installation screen or by finding it in your App Drawer.
- Go to your App Drawer (home screen or apps menu).
- Find and tap the app to open it.
You may be asked to review or grant app permissions after installation.
Step 6: (Optional) Disable Unknown Sources
For increased security, you may want to turn this setting off again:
- Go to Settings > Security/Privacy.
- Open the app you enabled earlier.
- Disable Allow from this source.
