Changing Batteries in your Door/Window Sensor
If you have received a Door or Window Sensor “Low Battery” message on your panel, you will need to replace the battery promptly to ensure the device continues to function properly. Information to order replacements can be found in our article, How to Order Replacement Batteries. How to Replace Your Battery Open the contact sensor (large piece) by finding the small perimeter side with a slot in the bottom middle. Insert a flathead screwdriver into the slot and twist it toward you. Remove the module inside the cover by turning the cover upside down over your hand. Use a flathead screwdriver to slide the batteries out in the direction of the arrows found on the silver battery covers. Insert the new batteries with the + side facing away from the module and up toward you. Replace the module and snap the cover back. After replacing the batteries, it is recommended that you test the sensor to make sure it works properly.…Read More -
Door/Window Sensor Tampering
Most alarm equipment has a built-in tamper switch to deter unauthorized interference. When the panel reports a tamper trouble condition, it usually means the mounting plate and the sensor case are loose or not properly connected. This occurs most frequently after changing sensor batteries. Troubleshooting Sensor Tampering Make sure the sensor cover is securely fastened. If that doesn't seem to be the issue, remove the cover and re-attach it. If the system still reports a tampering issue, please contact our Support Team.…Read More -
Door/Window Sensor False Alarms
It is important to regularly test and maintain all of your sensors. A low battery or abnormal damage to the sensor can cause irregular activity. Verify that the sensor and magnet are securely mounted. If either piece has fallen off, the system will not function properly. Verify that the spacing between the sensor and magnet is no further than 1/2 of an inch when the door/window is closed. Verify that the door or window does not move excessively while it is closed. Verify that the sensor is located inside, away from large metal appliances, and in a climate-controlled environment. Replace the batteries (Two CR-2032 Batteries). If the batteries have already been replaced and the issue persists, please contact our support for further assistance.…Read More -

Door/Window Sensor is not Properly Triggering
This article will assist you in troubleshooting your Door or Window Sensor when it is not responding. Follow the steps below. Verify that magnet alignment/gap size is less than 1/2 of an inch. Remove the sensor from the door frame or window. While holding the sensor pieces in your hands, bring the pieces together and then apart to imitate the opening/closing of the door or window. If the sensor is working properly, your Alarm Panel will indicate that the sensor is now opened, and you will know the sensor is working correctly but may have been mounted incorrectly. If your door is made of metal, it may cause interference and prevent the sensor in the larger piece from detecting the magnetic field of the smaller piece. To fix this, swap the installation locations of each piece of the sensor by placing the magnet piece of the sensor on the non-metal surface. Remount the sensor so that the two pieces are closer together and test to make sure it’s now working. If the problem persists replace the battery in the sensor and imitate the opening/closing of the door or window again. Battery Type: Two CR-2032 Batteries When you take out the battery, please wait 30-40 seconds before inserting new batteries. If the issue is not resolved or you would like help troubleshooting, contact our support team.…Read More
