Door/Window Sensor is not Properly Triggering
This article will assist you in troubleshooting your Door or Window Sensor when it is not responding. Follow the steps below.
Verify that magnet alignment/gap size is less than 1/2 of an inch.
Remove the sensor from the door frame or window.
While holding the sensor pieces in your hands, bring the pieces together and then apart to imitate the opening/closing of the door or window.
If the sensor is working properly, your Alarm Panel will indicate that the sensor is now opened, and you will know the sensor is working correctly but may have been mounted incorrectly.
If your door is made of metal, it may cause interference and prevent the sensor in the larger piece from detecting the magnetic field of the smaller piece.
To fix this, swap the installation locations of each piece of the sensor by placing the magnet piece of the sensor on the non-metal surface.
Remount the sensor so that the two pieces are closer together and test to make sure it’s now working.
If the problem persists replace the battery in the sensor and imitate the opening/closing of the door or window again.
