Alexa and my Cove System
Alexa brings the convenience of voice-activated technology to your home, enabling you to control your home security with ease. By integrating Alexa with your Cove security system, you can effortlessly check your system's status, arm or disarm your security, and switch between modes. This integration can change the way you interact with your home security, making it more intuitive and accessible than ever before. (This feature is only compatible with Cove Connect Systems, not Cove Simple Systems.) This article is for Alexa, if you want to connect your Cove Connect system with Google Home you can refer to this article. Enabling Cove Connect with Alexa To allow Alexa to control your home security start by downloading or logging into the Amazon Alexa app. Once you're logged into the app you can continue the activation process: Select 'More' located towards the bottom right corner. Click on the option called "Skills & Games" and search for "Alula." Alula Security operates Cove's backend cloud services and will manage communication between your Cove system and your Alexa. Click "Launch" and the app will ask for login credentials. Enter your Cove Connect app username and password. If you do know or have forgotten your Cove login credentials, you can use this article to help you recover them. Once the app says you have successfully linked, click "Close." The app will then show you a list of devices connected to your account. Select the devices you want to be linked to the security system and then select "Launch". If at any time you leave this page, you can return to it by clicking "Launch" from the Alula skill page. With your Cove system successfully connected to your Alexa, you can now use voice commands to control your home security! Google Home and My Cove System
Google Home and Google Assistant bring the power of voice-activated technology to your fingertips, offering a smarter way to control your devices and manage your home. By integrating your Cove security system with Google Home, you can unlock a new level of convenience. With simple voice commands, you can check your system's status, arm or disarm your security, and switch between modes, making home security management intuitive. (This feature is only compatible with Cove Connect Systems, not Cove Simple Systems.) This article is for Google Home and Assistant. Activating Google Home To connect your Cove system to Google Home, download and log in to both of the following apps with the same Google Account: Google Home App Google Assistant App Once those apps are downloaded and you have logged into both of them, you can continue the activation process: Open your Google Home App and select your "Settings" in the bottom right corner. Under the "Services" section, select the option called "Works with Google" and search for "Alula Security." Alula Security operates our backend cloud services and will manage communication between your Cove system and your Google Home. A pop-up will appear to link an account to control Alula Security on any Google device. Click "Continue." Enter your Cove username and password into the provided fields and click "Login." If you do know or have forgotten your Cove login credentials, you can use this article to help you recover them. A loading circle will appear while it links with Alula Security. Alexa and Cove Connect Troubleshooting
Connectivity For issues with connectivity between the Cove Connect App and Amazon Alexa, go through these steps to try and resolve the issue. If they are having issues only with voice commands, skip to the bottom. Restart the device Unplug your device or the power adapter from the power outlet. Then plug it back in. For devices with removable batteries, remove and reinsert the batteries to restart the device. Disable skill - When you no longer want to use a skill, select the Disable option. Or say, "Disable (skill name)." Remove the Alula Skill From the menu, select "Skills & Games." On the next page, scroll down until you see “Your Skills” at the bottom. Select “Alula.” Select “Settings.” Select “Disable Skill.” Select “Disable.” Add the Alula Skill Download and log in to your Alexa App. Select “More” on the bottom right of the App. On the next screen select "Skills & Games" Search "Alula." When you find the Alula skill, select it, and then press “Launch.” A window will pop up where it will ask for your Username and Password. Please Enter your Username & Password for the Cove Connect App. After it says you have successfully linked, select “Close.” The next page will list the Alexa Devices connected to your account, select the devices you want to be linked to the Security System, and then select “Launch.” If you skip out of this page by accident, just select “Launch” on the Alula Skill page and it will bring up your list of Alexa Devices that you can link to your Cove Connect System. Alexa is not Understanding Commands Ask Alexa what she just heard. You can say "Alexa, tell me what you heard" to find out what it thought you said. If it misheard you, try again and be clear and concise with your pronunciation to leave little room for misinterpretation. Alexa requires specific wording and phrasing to understand the commands.
