Cove Security App Download (Android)

With a recent update, the Cove Security app will be unavailable to download for Android users for a brief period of time. In the meantime, to download the app, click here.

 

Please keep in mind that in order to download the app from this location you will need to allow your device to download 3rd party apps.

How to enable this feature across Android devices will vary slightly but will require you to enter your device's settings.

Here are directions to install the app 3rd party: 

Step 1: Allow Installation from Unknown Sources

By default, Android does not allow installing apps from outside the Google Play Store. You need to enable this setting.

1. Go to Settings on your Android device.
2. Tap on Security or Privacy, depending on your device.
3. Look for Install unknown apps or Install from Unknown Sources (the exact name may vary depending on your Android version).
4. Select the app (e.g., browser, file manager, or email app) you plan to use to download or open the APK file.
5. Enable "Allow from this source."

Alternatively, for Android 8.0 and above, you might need to do this for individual apps rather than a global setting.

Step 2: Download the APK File

To download the app, click here.

Step 3: Locate the APK File

Once the APK is downloaded, you will need to locate it:

1. Open the File Manager app on your device.
2. Navigate to the Downloads folder (or wherever you saved the APK file).

Step 4: Install the APK

To install the APK:

1. Tap on the APK file in your file manager.
2. A prompt will appear asking if you want to install the app. Tap Install to begin the process.
3. Wait for the installation to complete. Once done, you will see the option to either Open or Done.

Step 5: Launch the App

After installation, you can launch the app directly from the installation prompt or:

1. Go to your App Drawer (home screen or apps menu).
2. Find and tap the app to open it.

Step 6: Disable Unknown Sources (Optional)

If you enabled the "Install unknown apps" setting in Step 1, it’s a good idea to turn it off again for security:

1. Go back to Settings > Security (or Privacy).
2. Find the app that you used to sideload the APK and disable the "Allow from this source" option.
