Cove App Routines

  • updated 2 mths ago

This article goes through all of the functions and features for routines available on the Cove App.

What are Routines?

Routines are rules or special functions that act in a similar matter to "If This, Then That". An example of this is, If my front door is opened, Then notify my phone that the door has been opened. There will be more routines added when we have more Smart Home Products to offer.

How to Access the Routines

The Routines can be accessed by clicking on the menu bar (3 bars at the top right of the app) and selecting Routines.

What Routines Can Be Added?

  • Notifications for when sensors for Doors or Windows Open or Close
  • Arming/Disarming at a set time of the day.
  • Run a Smart Home Scene (Coming Soon).

How do I Create a Routine?

  1. Once you have clicked on the Routines button in the side menu, click the plus (+) icon to start the recipe for the routine.
  2. Select the "If This Happens" rule. The ones that currently function for the equipment we currently offer are "A sensor is Closed", "A sensor is Opened", and "It is a set Time or Schedule".
  3. Follow the commands on the app to complete the Recipe.
    1. For when a sensor is opened or closed it will want you to select the desired sensor to receive notifications for.
    2. For a recurring scheduled routine, you will want to select the frequency of the specific action (arming and disarming) to happen and on which days the rule shall be applied.
    3. If you see a "Run this Scene" option, that is intended for Smart Home products and will eventually offer features like changing temperatures on thermostats, locking doors, opening garage doors, etc. At this time it will not offer any features.
  4. After you've selected your preferences, the finalized routine will appear on the routines page. The slider to the right indicates the routine is currently enabled and will operate the rules you have set. You can slide that slider to the left to disable the routine.

How do I delete Routines?

You may find a routine you no longer wish to have enabled or even listed. You can delete routines by holding the 3 dots to the right of the desired routine and sliding those dots to the left. A hidden Trash can icon will appear. Click on that Trash Can and confirm you wish to remove that routine.
