Pairing Your Eufy Doorbell Camera With the Cove Connect App

A Few Things to Know:

  • The Doorbell Camera needs to be charged for 6 hours before you set it up. Use the provided MicroUSB cable to charge the camera before starting the pairing process.
  • The Chime comes with an included 16GB MicroSD card that is inserted in the side of the chime. If you want more storage, you can remove that microSD card and insert a larger microSD card of your choosing. 
  • The camera requires a 2.4GHz network, so if you have a dual-band router (with both 2.4GHz and 5GHz options) please make sure your phone is connected to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network before you begin. If you are unsure what network your router is broadcasting, there are downloadable programs to install on your phone or computer, but we suggest contacting your Internet Service Provider or Wi-Fi Router Model’s Customer Support. 
  • The cameras communicate using the Cove Connect app for users on the Plus monitoring service plan. If you do not see an option to add cameras please call our support team for assistance at 855.268.3669. 
  • If you have previously paired the Eufy cameras to the Eufy Security app, save any clips for those cameras you intend to keep and then remove the camera and chime off of the Eufy app. Reset your cameras and chimes before pairing on the Cove Connect App
  • Lastly, a few of the camera features available with the Eufy Security app (like scheduling are not yet available through the Cove Connect app. We plan to incorporate additional features as part of our future app updates. For now, if you would like to keep those specific functions, we recommend keeping your cameras on the Eufy app. 

 
The Pairing Process 

  1. Before starting, make sure your camera is fully charged.
  2. Please download the Cove Connect App from the App Store or Play Store.
  3. Open the Cove Connect app and tap on the “Cameras” tab.
    • If you are on Android, it is located in the menu you can access it by clicking on the 3 bars on the top left of the Cove Connect Home Screen.
  4. Now, tap the (+) icon in the top right corner to add a new camera.
    • If this is your first time pairing a camera, you may be prompted to allow the app to access your phone’s camera. If you see this prompt, tap "Allow." 
  5. The app will open a QR code scanner. You will need to scan the code on the bottom of the chime box included with your doorbell camera.
    • If you scan the QR code on the camera before the chime box, the camera will fail to add to your account. 
  6. Plug the chime box into a standard AC outlet and wait for the LED light on the chime box to turn solid green. This can take anywhere from 60-90 seconds. Once the light is solid green, tap “Next” in the app.  
  7. Press and hold the “Sync” button (located at the top of the chime box) for roughly 3 seconds or until it starts blinking green. The chime box will beep and audibly announce it is ready for setup. Once it is blinking green, press “Next” on the app.
    • After you press “Next”, you may be prompted for permission to find and connect to devices that are nearby (this means the chime box.) Tap “Allow.” 
  8. Now, you will need to add your Wi-Fi network information.
    • If you are an iPhone or iPad User the Network Name Field will be automatically filled in with whatever network your device is connected to currently.
      • Make sure your iPhone or iPad is connected to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi Network
    • If you are an Android Device user and haven’t connected a Eufy camera on the Cove Connect app before, the “Network” field will be blank. Click on “Generate List” to see all available Wi-Fi networks nearby.  Please select the 2.4 GHZ Wi-Fi network that you should have connected your phone or tablet to before beginning the pairing process.
      • Take your phone to the place where your security camera will be installed to quickly verify that your Wi-Fi signal is strong enough in that location. The higher the percentage listed on your screen, the more reliable your signal is. 
      • Select your Wi-Fi network from the list. 
      • This should populate in the Network Field and you can move to the next step.
    • Tap on the “Password” field and type in your Wi-Fi Password
      • Please note: This field is case-sensitive, so make sure you’ve entered any uppercase letters or special symbols (@#$%^&*) correctly.
    • After you enter your Wi-Fi password, tap “OK” or “Configure Camera.”  
  9. After clicking “OK” or “Configure Camera”, your phone will transmit the data to the chime box via Bluetooth connection, so keep your phone within 10 feet of the chime box. After transmission of the data, the chime box will connect to the network. If done properly, your app will automatically move to the next step.  
  10. The app will then ask if you want to add the doorbell now. Click “Yes”. 
  11. You will now be prompted to press the “Sync” button which is the round button located on the back of your doorbell camera for 2-3 seconds, or until the light on the front of the camera starts blinking blue. Once the light is blinking blue, tap “Next” on the app.
  12.  The Chime box will announce “ready to add device”. It is attempting to pair with the Camera. The chime will start sending electronic signals over the air that you can audibly hear. Note that this is an intended function, and the Chime is not malfunctioning. The Camera is listening for these signals to connect.  
  13. The app will automatically move to the next step where it will attempt to “provision the camera”. This means the camera is being assigned to your account. This takes a moment but when it is successful it will provide a “Next” button at the bottom as well as an indication that the camera has provisioned successfully. Press “Next” to continue.
  14. Once your camera is paired, you can either leave it with its default name, which is the model number, or you can rename the camera by selecting the text field with the model number and typing in your desired name. Afterwards, tap “Save” to save your changes.

 Your camera has now been paired and is properly connected to the Cove Connect app. If you want to alter additional settings for the camera you can see more in this article.
