  • updated 3 mths ago

This article describes the settings and notifications for the Kami Doorbell Camera

  • You'll need to pair your doorbell camera to your Cove app before you will be able to access the camera settings.
  • If you cannot access the settings and your camera is paired, remove the battery from the camera and put it back in. Allow your camera a few minutes and try again.
  • To access the camera’s settings, once on the main settings page, click on the gear icon in the top right corner of the screen.
  1. Camera Name - This is where you will name and re-name the camera.
  2. Camera Settings - Additional settings you can access to help utilize the camera
    1. Status light- The LED light on the camera indicates when the camera is on and online.
    2. Camera Microphone - A built-in microphone on the camera to detect audio happening around the camera. This has a toggle to turn off if you don’t want to hear what is outside.
    3. Night Vision IR light. - Six red lights (3 on each side of the lens) indicate when the camera is using night vision. It’s faint but noticeable if you focus on the lens of the camera.
    4. Call Mode- Here you can adjust how the communication happens through the camera. You can set it to "Intercom," which allows only one side to talk and one side to listen at a time, or "Hands-Free," which means you can talk and listen to each other simultaneously.
    5. Firmware Version- Displays the camera's current firmware version. If it is up to date, it will say to the right “Up to date”. If there is an update available and you want to update, tap on “Update available”.
  3. Smart Detection - This section allows you to adjust detection settings for the camera.
    1. Detection (PIR On/Off) - Here you can choose whether the camera's motion detection feature is on or off. If you toggle this on you can also enable Activity Zones and Human Detection.
      1. Activity Zones - This option allows you to choose to enable recording in 4 specific zones (see image below). In addition, you can adjust your detection range/sensitivity from Low to High

      2. Human Detection - This will trigger a recording when the camera detects a human figure.
    2. Theft Detection - This setting will cause a siren to trigger if the camera is removed from the wall (or the tamper button is no longer pressed in).
    3. Alert Frequency- Here you can choose how frequently a camera is to record and notify, otherwise known as the "Cool off" period.
      1. Low - Fewer alerts and recordings, and more time between recordings. Generally recommended for higher traffic areas. This also helps conserve battery life if the camera is operating only on battery.
      2. Medium- More frequent alerts and recordings than "Low" but not as many as "High".
      3. High - More frequent alerts, more frequent recordings. Less cool-down time. This is a good setting if you have an area where people should not be going, but it will drain the battery of the camera faster.
  4. My Cloud- Record camera footage directly to the cloud for a 7-day period of time. After that period of time, the footage will be erased.
  5. PIN Protection- You can enable the camera to use a PIN to access the live feed/footage.
  6. Recording Duration - Here you can adjust the recording time anywhere from 6 seconds to 60 seconds.
  7. Network/Info - This displays the Network information, including the Wi-Fi name (Wi-Fi SSID), The Wi-Fi Strength, the IP address, and the MAC address of the camera.
  8. Connectivity- Test the connection strength from the camera to the router, to the internet, to your phone.
  9. Videos and Photos- Here you can enable activity alerts when a recording is sent to the cloud.
  10. Delete Camera - This button will have you delete the camera. Make sure you click confirm or “Yes” if you want to delete the camera.

Notifications and Camera Pop-ups

When you're logged into the Cove app and have notifications enabled, you will receive notices when your doorbell camera button is pressed. Clicking on the notification will cause a pop-up of the camera to appear.

The pop-up view looks like this:

  1. Camera Name - This is the name that is listed for the camera. It will also show how long it's been since the doorbell has been pressed.
  2. Timestamp - The live feed's timestamp
  3. Kami Watermark- The camera feed includes a watermark of Kami's Brand.
  4. Full Screen- This option allows you to view the pop-up on full screen.
  5. Ignore- This button will disconnect your view of the camera from your phone.
  6. Talk- "Talk" allows you to speak with the person on the other end of the camera. You do not need to press and hold the button. Tap the button when you want to start speaking and tap it again when you are done speaking.
