Camera Live Feeds and Features

  • updated 1 mth ago

This article explains what you can do and adjust from the live feed page of the Cove App.

The live feed page is where you'll access your camera feed. From here, you also have the option to listen in or broadcast your voice to the camera. You can make the footage fullscreen, take pictures, and manually record clips to save to your local device's storage.

Below is an image of what the live feed will display. Each number represents a button and the breakdown below describes what each button does.

  1. Back Arrow: Located in the top left corner of the screen, this button will allow you to exit the live feed and go back to the main page.
  2. Camera Quality: This menu will allow you to toggle between SD( Standard Definition), HD (High Definition), or Auto. SD will run more smoothly without buffering times but will have lower image quality. "SD" is ideal for members who have a lot of network traffic or low network speeds. "HD" image quality is better but will buffer if there’s not a strong enough signal. "Auto" will adjust the quality and speed according to how strong of a network connection.
  3. Manual Recordings: The camera icon will allow you to record for as long as you want (or until the camera times out) manually and store the footage to your local device’s storage. To record an image manually, click on the camera icon. A red "record" button will appear near the center of the top of the screen with a timer counting upwards. To stop recording, click the "stop" button (which will be where the camera icon was initially), or close out of the app.
  4. Photo Mode: This icon allows you to take a screenshot of what the camera is currently viewing. When you click on that icon, it will take a picture of what the camera is currently displaying. The image will save to the device’s local storage.
  5. Microphone: This icon will allow you to communicate through the camera via the camera’s 2-way audio function. To start to broadcast your voice, press and hold the microphone icon and start talking. You will be able to broadcast your voice as long as you hold the button (like a walkie-talkie). There is also a hands-free option that will not require you to press the microphone button for the Indoor camera. You can see more information here:
  6. Audio: This will allow you to listen to whatever noise is near the camera via your phone. If there is a slash over the megaphone icon, it means it is muted and you will not hear what is going on. If there are lines signifying noise is being made next to the microphone, it means it is not muted. If you need help, please see the troubleshooting guide.
  7. Full Screen: The two arrows will make the feed full screen. You can use the full phone’s screen image to see what is going on with your feed.
  8. Settings: The gear icon at the top right of the live feed opens the settings for that camera. Each camera has will have different settings. For indoor camera settings, click here. For outdoor camera settings, click here
  9. Camera Name and Feed: The name and timestamp of the camera feed. You can rename your camera in the settings.
  10. Date: See the cloud captures recorded on a certain date. This is related to the cloud subscription which will enable you to see recordings from the past 24 hours.
  11. Alerts: Toggle to show alerts for recordings that happened on the camera recently.
  12. Cloud: Shows you which recordings are currently stored in the cloud. Your cameras will also have an SD card slot. Inserting an SD card will allow the camera to record footage and save it directly to the card. This will enable you to access that footage in the future when you need it.

What else can you do on the live screen?

  • Zoom in: Using 2 fingers on the screen, swipe out from the center and it will zoom in to a specific area
  • Scroll: If you have the camera zoomed in you can scroll throughout the image
  • Zoom out: Once zoomed in you can zoom out by using 2 fingers to swipe from the outer edges of the camera's screen and swiping inward. You can also double-tap on the screen with 1 finger to reset the image back to the full camera image.
