Motion Sensor Frequently Asked Questions
How it Works This sensor detects the movement of heat in its field of vision. Your security system has two arming modes, arm “Away” and arm “Stay.” In “Away” mode, the Motion Sensor detects movement and will trigger an alarm. In “Stay” mode, the Motion Sensor is not active and will not trigger an alarm. To preserve battery life, the sensor will go inactive for three minutes after it has been triggered. FAQ's Where should I avoid placing my Motion Sensors? Due to the sensor’s sensitivity to heat, we recommend avoiding the following installation locations: In direct sunlight Facing a window In a room where many animals gather or are active Near an air vent while warm air is on Near a shelf or high furniture onto which small pets can climb In an area of the home where water can condense on the sensor Will this sensor be triggered by my pets? This sensor won't register animals below 25-55 lbs. This is an approximate weight, but the sensitivity can be adjusted for slightly larger animals by moving the pin in the back of the sensor. For more information, see “Sensitivity.” What is the field of view and range of this sensor? This sensor has a horizontal (side-to-side) field of view of 90 degrees and a downward field of view of 45 degrees, which is why we recommend placing it high on a wall in a corner. It has a sensing radius of about 35-45 feet Will this Motion Sensor trigger repeatedly during the same motion incident? To preserve battery life, this sensor has a 3-minute cooldown period after sensing any motion incident. During these 3 minutes, whether the system is armed or unarmed, the sensor will be inactive.…
